Building the Windows Client Issues

poik007
Hello everyone, I've been trying to build the windows client for a few days now and I'm having some issues doing it. At first, I just want to build it as-is, without making any modification, but I always get stuck. I think that the guidehttp://doc.owncloud.org/desktop/1.4/building.html has some issues as well, either it's not finished or outdated in some fashion...

I started by adding the repositories for OpenSUSE12.2 (but the step that talks abouthttp://pmbs.links2linux.org/download/mingw:/32/openSUSE_12.1/x86_64/mingw32-cross-nsis-plugin-processes-0-1.1.x86_64.rpm is broken, I had to find the same rpm somewhere else because the link has been dead for a few weeks now)

Then the generic build instructions, when I use mingw32-cmake on ocsync, I get that output:

linux-taib:/home/jtessier/win/ocsync-build # mingw32-cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE="Debug" ../ocsync

Then I run make and there's a bunch of text outputting (I won't paste it all because I don't think it's all relevant) and it seems to work (it doesn't fail, at least)

And then I go to build mirall with

mingw32-cmake -DCMAKE_BUILD_TYPE="Debug" ../mirall -DCSYNC_BUILD_PATH=/home/jtessier/win/ocsync-build -DCSYNC_INCLUDE_PATH=/home/jtessier/win/ocsync/src -DCMAKE_TOOLCHAIN_FILE=/home/jtessier/win/mirall/admin/win/Toolchain-mingw32-openSUSE.cmake

And here's the output, there are some warnings here and there but it seems like it worked?

I'm not used to building stuff with cmake, but I know C++ errors when I see them :-1:

I'm kinda stuck there, I really wanted to play around with the source and see if I could make it do crazy things but being stuck on building the thing is really hindering my progress, thanks in advance :)

Re: Building the Windows Client Issues

Haiwei Xue
Hi Tessier ,

I got the same problem with you.  I think this is because your mirall's version is not matched the ocsyn's version. I solved this problem by downloading mirall and ocsyn from http://owncloud.org/sync-clients/

this version pair seems match. Hopefully it can help you.

Thanks.

For current master, you need the csync branch ocsync from here:
http://git.csync.org/users/owncloud/csync.git/?h=ocsync
or the latest released version, depending on what you want to do.

Note that the git master might not be stable atm.

Re: Building the Windows Client Issues

poik007
Now I've used the other sources and I can compile and run the client just fine

it doesn't work, however, I can't sync files, the --logwindow outputs this

10-24 14:04:13:786 csync_vio_init: Win32: changing current working dir to C:\Program Files (x86)\owncloud
10-24 14:04:13:789 csync_vio_init: Win32: changing current working dir to C:\Program Files (x86)\owncloud
10-24 14:04:13:791 csync_init: The csync module owncloud could not be loaded.
10-24 14:04:13:791 Could not initialize csync! 5
10-24 14:04:13:792 WRN: Unable to set Proxy without csync-ctx!
10-24 14:04:13:792 void Mirall::Folder::startSync(const QStringList&) init failed.

Now I'm stuck there :)

Hi Klaas,

Thanx for the info.
It would be very helpful if more information is provided about the tag or sha of ocsync we need.
On the about page of the clients this information is provided for mirall, but not for ocsync.

Recently i myself ran into some problems which i've not solved yet. (About the NSIS command during cross compiling. You can find it in the list).

I've noticed that the information on this page http://doc.owncloud.org/desktop/1.4/building.html could use an update. For example: some rpms are relocated and a dependency is missing.
Some problems mentioned in this list are basicly caused by missing information on that page.

I'm certainly not an expert but sure am willing to help maintaining that page if that's needed or wanted.

Regards,
Koen
