Issues with ownCloud

My IT Brain
Hello there!

The reason I'm writing is I have some questions about ownCloud. We have setup our ownCloud server for testing purposes and we hope to start providing cloud solutions very soon. I joined the ownCloud testpilots group yesterday with the purpose of helping to improve the ownCloud features while learning more about it. Please visit www.myitbrain.com/storage
to see my ownCloud instance.

To start, I have some issues I'd like you to help me to resolve.

- I was looking to increase the size of upload files, but there is not an option in ownCloud. (would very a very nice feature in next versions). Almost all documentation I found online says to edit that setting in the php.ini or .htaccess files, but I can't find those files in my server. FYI, we are hosting with Godaddy.

- Another question is, if we want to restrict the capacity of storage per group, how can we do that? Ex: I have a 2TB total Storage Capacity in my server and I want to give 512 GB Storage for the group "accounting", other 512 GB for the group "marketing", and use 300 GB for my admins, still leaving some space free.

- In addition, something I think you can fix in next versions, when you create an admin in a group ex: (user admin:test group:test), that admin has the ability to create users, but not groups, and the "Add Gorup" option is still available on the top left corner, and if you try to create a group you receive an "Authentication Error". Would very nice either removing this option for admins of groups or giving them the ability to create sub-groups.

Thank you for all your help and hope to continue working together.

Sincerely,

Adrian Tregent.

Issues with ownCloud

Vincent Petry
Hello Adrian,

1) About the max upload part: I'm not sure whether you'll manage to
increase the max upload if GoDaddy doesn't let you change php.ini. Do
they have a control panel for your site that might allow increasing that
size ? The other alternative to look at is editing ".htaccess" inside
the ownCloud root directory. But it will also only work if GoDaddy
allows for overrides.

2) Quota per group is not implemented yet, see
https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/1347

3) "Add group": that must be a bug. Can you raise a ticket here
https://github.com/owncloud/core/issues/new using the issue template
from here https://raw.github.com/owncloud/core/master/issue_template.md
? Make sure you are using the latest OC 7.0.4.

Cheers,

Vincent
