ownCloud Client 1.4.2 Release

Klaas Freitag-3
Hi,

we just released ownCloud Desktop Client version 1.4.2 for the platforms
Windows, MacOS X and various Linux.

It is a bugfix release for the 1.4 family and fixes a lot of bugs
reported by our community.

All download links can be found at
http://owncloud.org/sync-clients/

This is the Changelog:
http://owncloud.org/sync-clients/releases

The linux packages are on the way building in the OBS and will be
finished soon.

Thanks a lot for your help,

Klaas

for the desktop client team.

I am curious.
Could you point me to the bug report dealing with this issue:
* Do not elide the progress text (#1049)

I would like to know what this is about.

Thank you
E.

Why, thank you, Chris.
I had actually checked that. The reported problem has to do with
character settings in MacOS, but absolutely nothing with what it says in
the changelog, "Do not elide the progress text"

What does "elide" mean, anyhow?

E.

I guess it's a typo, where it should be 'slide'.
Just guessing.

No, in fact it's "eliding", see http://www.thefreedictionary.com/eliding.

It refers to omiting parts of a text in a label, when it becomes too small for a window. Since the label was next to a scaleable progress bar, there is no point in eliding, because the progress bar can shring almost infinitely. Since eliding does not look at what it elides, it previously has cut away important information (which eliding should not).

Good eliding: "Copying C:\foo\ba....34.png (34%)"
Bad eliding: "Copying C:\foo\bar\134.png (..."

HTH,
  Daniel
